Overview:
Lawrence Industries, Inc., a leading provider of metal heat treating services, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring the proper functioning and safety of our industrial equipment, with a primary focus on boiler maintenance and repair, gas systems, and combustion controls. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running with strong mechanical aptitude and a working knowledge of complex systems involving gas valves, regulators, and switches.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and emergency repairs on boilers and related systems
- Troubleshoot and repair industrial gas valves, regulators, safety switches, and combustion controls
- Monitor and maintain PLC-connected equipment, including Lindberg furnaces and endothermic generators
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues in automated furnace systems
- Assist in preventative maintenance of heat treat equipment, piping, and gas distribution systems
- Work directly with operations to ensure minimal downtime and quick turnaround on maintenance issues
- Follow all safety protocols and documentation procedures during maintenance tasks
Required Qualifications:
- Hands-on boiler repair experience is preferred
- Strong knowledge of gas trains, pressure regulators, solenoid valves, and pilot lighting procedures
- Understanding of combustion systems and fuel-air ratio adjustments
- Basic electrical troubleshooting and wiring for industrial systems
- Experience with endothermic generators and atmosphere control equipment preferred
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and mechanical blueprints
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable transportation and strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Honeywell UDC controllers and PLC interfaces
- Previous work in a heat treating or industrial furnace environment
- Welding or fabrication experience is a plus
- Familiarity with SCADA or furnace monitoring software
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Work in hot environments around industrial ovens and furnaces
- Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces
Schedule:
Monday through Friday; 6:00AM – 2:30PM, occasional weekend support as needed for emergency repairs or scheduled maintenance
