Position Overview

Lawrence Industries, Inc. is looking for a reliable and hardworking Basket Loader and Unloader to join our heat treating team. This position is responsible for carefully loading metal parts into stainless steel baskets and fixtures before heat treatment, then unloading and organizing the parts after processing.

The ideal candidate follows instructions closely, works safely and understands the importance of properly handling customer parts. No previous heat treating experience is required. We will train the right person.

Key Responsibilities

• Load metal parts into stainless steel baskets and fixtures according to specific instructions
• Unload parts after heat treatment and place them in the proper containers
• Read and follow work instructions, process sheets
• Arrange parts correctly to prevent damage and ensure proper heat treatment
• Keep different jobs, quantities and customer parts properly separated
• Count, weigh and verify parts when required
• Inspect parts for visible damage or other concerns
• Move baskets, containers and materials using pallet jacks or forklifts
• Communicate with furnace operators and supervisors regarding job status or concerns
• Keep the work area clean, organized and safe
• Follow all company safety and quality procedures
• Assist with other production duties when needed

Qualifications

• No previous heat treating experience required
• Manufacturing, warehouse or production experience is helpful but not required
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work at a steady and consistent pace
• Forklift experience or willingness to be trained
• Dependable with good attendance
• Ability to work well with others

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, bend and reach throughout the shift
• Ability to repeatedly handle and move metal parts
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment
• Comfortable working near equipment and parts that may produce heat

Work Schedule

• Full-time position
• Monday through Friday
• 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Some overtime and weekend work may be available depending on production needs
